How can I use SeekFast?

The principle of usage of SeekFast is very simple – you first select a search folder and wait for the program to read the text of the files in the folder and its subfolders. When you see the word "Ready," type your search words in the search field and press "Enter."

This is briefly explained on the initial screen of the program, along with screenshots. You can also display this screen anytime by clicking the "Home" button.

What are the advantages of SeekFast over other similar tools?

SeekFast is the only tool of its kind that uses an intelligent search, similar to search engines like Google and Bing – you just type the words you are looking for, and it gives you results in order of relevance.

Other major advantages of SeekFast are:

• It can search for word combinations – the words don’t have to be next to each other in the sentence.
• It shows the text of all sentences containing the search words.
• SeekFast does not take up your computer's resources when it is not running since it does not use indexing.
• The license for SeekFast is lifetime and includes lifetime support and free updates – you will not have to pay every year.

License

I did not receive a License Key after my purchase. What should I do?

The email with your License Key was sent to you automatically after your purchase, but it may have gone to your spam folder. If you do not find the email, please email us at info@seekfast.org.

How can I activate my License Key?

Open the free version of SeekFast and go to the menu Help -> License. Copy and paste your License Key in the License window and click "OK" to activate it.

After the activation, you can search up to 1,000,000 files in a folder at once.

Why is my License Key not working?

Ensure you copy the License Key from the email without additional spaces or new lines or type it in by hand.
If that doesn't work, please write to us at info@seekfast.org.

I have lost my License Key. What should I do?

Write to us at info@seekfast.org, and we will resend your License Key.

I have reinstalled the operating system on my PC and cannot activate the License Key. What should I do?

If you have already activated your Personal License 3 times, you cannot reactivate it again after reinstalling your operating system. In this case, email us at info@seekfast.org, and we will renew your license.

What are the conditions for getting an educational license?

If you are a student or a teacher in an accredited educational institution (university, high school, or college), you can apply for an Educational License for SeekFast. Students must be enrolled in an accredited educational program.

Is there any difference between the Personal and Educational License?

There is no difference in the features. The only difference is that the Educational License is offered at a special discount to students and teachers and should be used for educational, scientific or other non-commercial purposes.

Purchasing

How can I purchase a license and activate the full version?

1. Open the Buy now page and select your license type. Click on the "Buy" button and you will be redirected to PayPal.
2. After the payment, wait for several seconds, and you will be redirected back to our site, where you will find your License Key. You will also receive it in your PayPal email.
3. Open the free version of SeekFast and go to the menu Help -> License. Copy and paste your License Key in the License window and click "OK" to activate it.

I don’t have a PayPal account. How can I purchase SeekFast?

If you do not have a PayPal account and do not want to create one, you can pay for your license in various other ways: by credit or debit card, by bank transfer, by transfer via Wise.com, in Bitcoin, or in any other way that is convenient for you. In this case, your license will be sent manually after receiving your payment.

How can I get an invoice for my purchase?

In order for us to issue an invoice for your purchase, please send your company data – company name, address and optionally VAT number – to info@seekfast.org.

Please indicate in what currency you want the invoice amount to be shown.

How can I get a refund?

If you have any problems with SeekFast and want a refund for your purchase, write to us at info@seekfast.org and describe what problems you are having with it. We will probably be able to solve your problems, and you can continue to use SeekFast effectively.

If we issue a refund, your license will be deactivated, and you can no longer use the full version of SeekFast.

Searching with SeekFast

Can I search in shared or network folders?

Yes, you can search in shared or network folders with SeekFast as long as you have access to them.

Can I search scanned PDF documents?

Not all of the scanned PDF documents can be searched directly with SeekFast. However, you can use any OCR software to convert them to text, and after that, you can search them.

Why is SeekFast not finding a word in PDF files?

The most likely reason is that you are searching scanned documents containing images rather than real text. In this case, you can use any OCR software to convert them to text.

Another possible reason is that the PDF file in which you are searching may be larger than 10 MB in size, and PDF files with such a size are excluded from the search by default. You can change this setting from Tools -> Options.

What can I do if SeekFast reads files very slowly?

If you are looking in a folder with a large number of files, or if you have files of very large size, it is normal to read the text from these files to take longer. If possible, limit your search to a folder with fewer files.

You may also exclude very large files from the search from Tools -> Options.

Keep in mind that the speed of reading files also depends on the parameters of your computer.

Can I search files larger than 1 GB?

SeekFast is not intended to search files larger than 1 GMB. This is because the program is optimized to read files as fast as possible, and very large files severely reduce the program's performance.

Can I search my entire disk, not just a folder?

If you have less than 1 million documents on your disk, you can search the entire disk with SeekFast.

If you have more than 1 million documents, we recommend selecting a specific folder instead of searching the entire drive.

How can I open SeekFast from File Explorer on Windows?

1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder you want to search.
2. Right-click the folder and choose "Search with SeekFast..."
3. Wait until all files are read.
4. Type your search terms and press "Enter."

I have changed the document types for search but got the same result. What should I do?

After changing the "File Types" options, click on the "Reload" button, located to the right of the "Browse..." button. SeekFast will re-scan your chosen directory and read only the file types you have chosen.

Can I use logical operators with SeekFast?

SeekFast is designed to make the search as easy and simple as possible, so for the moment, it does not support logical operators. We plan to include this feature in future versions.

Can SeekFast search files within subfolders recursively?

Yes, SeekFast searches in the chosen folder and in all its subfolders recursively.

What are the differences between the free and the full version?

The main difference is that with the free version you can search up to 50 files at once, while with the full version, you can search up to 1,000,000 files. For more information on the differences between the two versions, see Compare versions.

How do I update SeekFast to the most recent version?

1. Open Control Panel -> Programs and Features, and uninstall SeekFast.
2. Download and install the most recent version from the Download page.
3. Go to the menu Help -> License. If your License Key is not displayed, please enter it again.

Can I use SeekFast on 32-bit Windows?

On 32-bit Windows you can use only an old version of SeekFast – version 2.3. You can download and install it from the SeekFast 2.3 setup file.
